ABOUT
The Canadian G.I. Joe Convention is the result of a small yearly gathering
of GI Joe fans at what was once known as The Canadian Joe Meet. From it's
birth in a local toy store, to a full fledged convention with special guests
in attendance, including Hasbro Canada, the "CanJoeCon"
continues to expand and strives to be different than your normal convention
each year!
In 2002, collectible toy store owner Michael Heddle organized local
GI Joe fans in his store for the first ever Canadian Joe Fan Meet. In 2008,
just 6 short years later, approximately 400 fans attended The Canadian Joe
Meet, with Hasbro Canada and the "father" of GI Joe, Larry Hama also in attendance.
Popular events such as GI Joe vs Cobra wrestling, a Speed Painting contest,
the ever-famous "FREE ITEM" table, vendors with various Joe memorabilia for
sale, and of course countless door prices can only mean one thing : fun
for all ages!
G.I. Joe
First introduced in 1964 by Hasbro as a toy line, then re-launched in
1982 with a full fledged cartoon and comic book to support it, G.I. Joe has
become a global phenomenon that has also spawned video games, more animated
series, films and conventions. It's the battle between good and evil. G.I.
Joe is an elite military unit whose purpose is to defend the world against
COBRA, a "ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world".
This premise has stayed with the G.I. Joe brand since 1982 and will feature
a live-action film in the summer of 2009. For more information on Hasbro’s
